Most people will create some kind of brown or age spots during life. These age spots normally appear on exposed skin areas like the face, neck, back, chest, shoulders, and hands. The biggest culprit being sun exposure. When skin is exposed to sunlight, it triggers an increase in the production of cells called melanocytes. This process then increases melanin in the epidermis, which makes the skin look younger.

The fantastic news? Age spots are harmless. They are benign, not cancerous.
But it is recommended that your skin care physician perform an exam on your skin at your annual checkup.

Even though that age spots are harmless, they are not welcome on my skin. As the number of age spots began to increase on my face and body, I started to investigate these spots. I wondered how the spots could be removed or reduced. In this search, I found out, that these spots can be treated with natural remedies.
Not all remedies can remove the spots totally, but some of them can lighten the spots and make them less invisible.

Here are 8 natural remedies for age spots:

1. Tea Tree essential oils

Tea Tree essential is known to have a great effect on skin issues like dark spots or Age-spots.
Also, Tea Tree oil is effective in fighting acne and pimples.
Massage a mixture of pure Tea Tree essential oil and a carrier oil directly onto the Age-spots. The carrier oil can be Castor oil, Jojoba oil, Almond oil, Coconut oil or another oil of your choice.

2. Sandalwood – Treat Age Spots with Natural Remedies

Sandalwood is known to have effective anti-aging attributes and is often utilized to reduce the visibility of age spots.
Massage a drop of pure sandalwood essential oil directly onto the Age-spots.
As an alternative, you can combine sandalwood powder with a few drops of distilled water, glycerin, and Lemon juice. Apply this paste onto the Age-spots and leave it to dry for 20 minutes before rinsing off with water.

3. Lemon Juice – Treat Age Spots with Natural Remedies

Simply dab fresh lemon juice directly onto the spots twice daily and you might notice improvements in roughly a few months. Leave the juice onto the skin for at least 30 minutes, or as long as possible. You might also leave the Lemon juice on your skin.
Warning: Don’t use lemon juice on your skin, if you intend to go outdoor. Lemon Juice will increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun and harm your skin.

Apple cider vinegar includes natural alpha hydroxy acids, which are known to help lighten spots created by sun or age.
To fight the acidic nature of vinegar, you can combine it with olive oil which can protect the skin from dryness. Employ every day on the skin and wash off after 20 minutes. Your skin will be left smooth and soft.
It’s normal to experience a little redness or itching in the beginning. In case you’ve got sensitive skin, or if it feels too strong, dilute with water.

5. Onion Juice – Treat Age Spots with Natural Remedies

Onions contain sulfur compounds that act as an antiseptic and great for your skin. Additionally, Onion juice contains acids which facilitate exfoliation. Lemons juice do not smell nice and some people even find them irritating to the skin. If you don’t like the smell, you might mix the juice with Lavender essential Oils or Rose essential oil.
Slice up some onions and rub the pieces over the affected area two or three times a day.
Another option is to mix one tablespoon of onion juice using two tablespoons of honey and apply the mixture to the affected area. Leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing the area thoroughly so the strong odor goes away.

Aloe vera is commonly used to deal with a number of skin conditions, such as age spots, acne etc.
Rub a little fresh aloe vera gel from the plant on the affected area and leave to soak in. You might also use Aloe vera Gel in high concentrate > 92%. Leave the Aloe vera on your skin, as aloe vera is quite gentle, so no need to wash it off. But you might want to rinse it off if it begins to feel sticky.

The naturally lactic acid found in yogurt gently removes dead skin cells. A healthy new skin is revealed as the dead skin cells slough off.
Put some plain yogurt right on the Age-spots. Let it dry naturally for approximately 20 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. For better results, use yogurt onto the affected area before bedtime and leave it on overnight.
As an alternative, you may produce a skin mixture by mixing one tablespoon of plain yogurt, two tablespoons of ground oatmeal plus one tsp of fresh lemon juice. Then apply some moisturizer. Apply this remedy a few times weekly.

8. Castor Oil – Treat Age Spots with Natural Remedies

Castor oil is known for its skin healing properties and has proven effective in treating Dark and Age-spots.
If you find Castor Oil smelling bad, then you might mix with few drops of Lavender or Rose essential oil.
Apply castor oil directly onto the age stains and massage into skin for a minute or two until absorbed. Do this once in the morning and once in the night, and you should start to see an improvement in about a month.
If you suffer from dry skin, you can mix with Coconut oil, Olive oil.

Every day, even on days where the sun is not shining, you shoulæd remember to use sunscreen.
Age-sport or dark spots are primarily developed by sun exposure, so use sunscreen or avoid too much direct sun.

These processes might take several months before you see positive results.
